Future perfect continuous tense with examples and exercise. Use of since and For

 In this article, I have explained the future perfect continuous tense with examples and exercises. I have also explained the positive, negative, and interrogative sentences. I have also given examples of positive, negative, and interrogative sentences. I have also given the combined exercise at the end of the articles.


Future Perfect continuous tense

Future continuous tense is used for an action that will start in the future and is thought to continue toll sometime in the future. In the future perfect continuous tense has a time reference like present perfect continuous tense and past perfect continuous tense. We can identify future perfect continuous tense through time reference because past perfect continuous tense tells that the action will start at a specific time in the future.

Used

  • For ongoing action that starts in the future and continues for some time in future
  • There will be time reference in the past perfect tense
  • Use of since and For
  • If there is no sense of time then it is not future perfect continuous tense

Ruled

The helping verb “Will have been” is used in the sentences of the past perfect tense. Present participle or 1st form of the verb is used as a main verb. If we know started point of a task,” Since” is used for time reference. If the starting point of time is not exact but the duration is given then, we used “For” in order to express time reference.

Structure of Sentence

In the structure of the sentence, we are going to discuss the structure of positive, negative, and interrogative sentences.

Positive Sentences

In positive sentences start with a subject, then the helping verb “Will have been” or “Shall have been” is used. After the helping verb, the first form of verb + ing or present participle is used as a main verb. At the end of the sentence, an object is used.

Structure

Subject + Helping verb +Helping verb + Helping verb + Main verb + Object

Subject + Will/Shall + Have + Been + VIing + Object

Examples

  • I shall have been playing in the ground.
  • We shall have been walking every day.
  • He will have been going to college regularly.
  • We shall have been living in Pakistan since 1990.
  • They will have been watching T.V. for two hours.
  • She will have been studying in this college since 1990.
  • You will have been running for two hours.
  • He will have been abusing since morning.
  • They will have been threatening him since 2020.
  • I shall have been meddling with her.

Negative Sentences

Negative sentences start with the subject, “Not “is used after helping verb “Will” “Shall” and then helping verb “Have been’ is used. The first form of verb + ing or present participle is used as a main verb. At the end of the sentence, an object is used.

Structure

Subject + Helping verb + Not + Helping verb +Helping verb + Main verb +Object

Subject + Will/Shall + Not + Have + Been + Viing + Object

Examples

  • I shall not have been playing in the ground.
  • We shall not have been walking every day.
  • He will not have been going to college regularly.
  • We shall not have been living in Pakistan since 1990.
  • They will not have been playing cricket since childhood.
  • She will not have been studying in this college since 1990.
  • You will not have been reading for 5 hours.
  • He will not have been abusing since morning.
  • They will not have been threatening him since 2020.
  • I shall not have been meddling with her.

Interrogative Sentences

Interrogative sentences start with the helping verb” Will” or “Shall”, then the subject and helping verb” Have been” is used. The first form of verb + ing or present participle is used as the main verb. At the end of the sentence, an object is used.

Structure

Helping verb + Subject + Helping verb + Helping verb + Main verb + Object

Will / Shall + Subject + Have + Been + VIing + Object

  • Shall I have been playing in the ground?

Interrogative + Negative Sentences

Interrogative + Negative Sentences start with helping verb "Will/Shall", the subject is used after will/shall then not is used between tow helping verbs  "Have and Been." is used. The first form of verb + ing is used as a main verb. At the end of the sentence, the object is used.

Structure 

Helping verb + Subject + Helping verb + Not+ Helping verb  + Main verb + Object

Will/Shall + Subject + Have  + Not+ Been + VIing + Object

Examples

  • Shall I have not been playing in the ground? 
  • Shall we have not been walking every day? 
  • Will he have not been going to college regularly? 
  • Shall we have not been living in Pakistan since 1990? 
  • Will they have not been playing cricket since childhood. 
  • Will she have not been studying in this college since 1990?

(WH) Interrogative Sentences

(WH) Interrogative Sentences start with “WH” words like Who, What, When, Where, How, Which, and then helping verb” Will/Shall “ then subject and helping verb “Have been” is used. The first form of verb + ing or present participle is used as a main verb. At the end of the sentences, the object is used.

Structure

(WH)Words + Helping verb + Subject + Helping verb + Helping verb + Main verb + Object

Why + Will/Shall + Subject + Have + Been + VIing + Object

  • Why Shall I  have been playing in the ground? 
  • When Shall we have been walking every day? 
  • How Will he have been going to college regularly? 
  • Where Shall we have been living in Pakistan since 1990?
