In this article, I have explained the future continuous tense with examples and exercises. Tenses play a very important role in writing and understanding the English language. In this article, I have explained the structure and use of future continuous tense. I have given the detailed structure of positive, negative, and Interrogative sentences. In the end, I have also given the exercise of combined sentences.

Future Continuous Tense

Introduction

It is used to express a continuous action or ongoing action in the future.
It conveys the ongoing nature of an action that accrued tomorrow.
For example, I will be studying tomorrow.

  • Express continue action in the past.
  • Express ongoing action in the past.
  • Express ongoing action that accrued tomorrow.

Rules

The helping verb Will be or shall be is used in a sentence. The first form of verb + ing or present participle is used as the main verb in the sentence.
Structure of sentence,

Positive sentence

In the positive sentence, the subject is used at the start of the sentence. The auxiliary verb will be is used after the subject. After helping verb will be the First form of main verb +ing or present participle is used. At the end of the sentence, an object is used.

Structure

Subject + Auxiliary Be + Main verb Present participle + Object

Subject +Will be /shall be + VI+ ing + Object 

Examples

  • We shall be waiting for you.
  • You will be studying tomorrow.
  • I shall be talking to him.
  • We shall be respecting all.
  • He will be dancing with you.
  • She will be making her child sleep.
  • Goher will be going to the river.
  • You will be behaving dishonestly.
  • They will be going to school on foot.
  • Goher will be encouraging him.

Important note

If the emphasis is given in the tense, the will is used in the place of shall, and shall is used in the place of a will. We can say that if the emphasis is given in this tense we replace the will and shall with each other.

Negative sentence

In negative sentence Not is used after helping verb will or shall. Not is used between helping verb will and be then the first form of main verb or present participle is used. At the start subject and ate the end object is used.

Structure

Subject + Helping verb + Not + Helping Verb + Main Verb + Object

Subject + Will/Shall + Not +Be + Present participle/ VIing +Object 

Examples

  • We shall be waiting for you.
  • You will be studying tomorrow.
  • I shall be talking to him.
  • We shall be respecting all.
  • He will be dancing with you.
  • She will be making her child sleep.
  • Goher will be going to the river.
  • You will be behaving dishonestly.

Interrogative Sentence

In interrogative sentences helping verb will or shall is used at the start of the sentence. After the helping verb will or shall subject is used, after the subject helping verb Be is used. After helping verb Be, the first form of main verb +ing or present participle is used. At the end of the sentence, the object is used.

Structure

Auxiliary + Subject + Helping verb + Main verb + Object

Auxiliary/Will/Shall + Subject +Auxiliar be + VI+ing + Object

Examples

  • We shall be waiting for you.
  • You will be studying tomorrow.
  • I shall be talking to him.
  • We shall be respecting all.
  • He will be dancing with you.
  • She will be making her child sleep.
  • Goher will be going to the river.
  • You will be behaving dishonestly.
  • They will be going to school on foot.

Interrogative +Negative

Interrogative + Negative sentence starts with the auxiliary verb "will" and "shall", the subject comes after will and shall and not is used after the subject. Helping verb Becomes after the subject. After the subject first form of the main verb +ing or present participle is used.

Auxiliary + Subject + Helping verb + Main verb + Object

Auxiliary Will /shall + subject + Be + VI+ing + Object

  • We shall be waiting for you.
  • You will be studying tomorrow.

(WHO ) Interrogative Sentences

The sentences of Who deals like positive sentences.

Structure

Who+ Helping verb + Main Verb + Object

Who + Will be + V+Iing +Object

Examples

  • Who will be abusing you?
  • Who will be dragging us?
  • Who will be teasing her?
  • Who will be helping you?
  • Who will be cheating in the examination?
